A holiday in Bali is a holiday on a sparkling tropical island. Bali, our much-loved northern playground is a tiny island gem surrounded by coral reefs and sandy beaches, and it’s waiting on our doorstep just a few hours flight away. Only 140km wide and less than 100km from north to south, Bali punches well above its weight in attractions for the holidaymaker. Whether you’re a surfing backpacker, a luxury-hungry flashpacker or a family seeking a relaxing beachside bungalow, this petite Indonesian island delivers in spades.
In this idyllic tropical delight you’ll find lush forests, unspoiled lakes, fast flowing rivers and deep ravines, rice paddies and fertile gardens. Tropical wildlife abounds in the mountains, and snorkelling or diving in the clear warm waters will reveal breathtaking sea life. The white sand palm-fringed beaches of the south are popular for swimming and surfing, while beaches in other parts of the island are covered with black volcanic sand and offer unsurpassed opportunities for diving.
From the rowdy bars and surf beaches of Kuta,Seminyak and Legian, to the cosseted enclaves of Nusa Dua or the luxurious hideaways of Candi Dasa, every holidaymaker’s whim is satisfied by the eternally smiling, gentle Balinese. The variety of attractions provides a complete holiday package for singles, couples and families alike; nobody ever leaves Bali disappointed.
But don’t just stop at the beach. The savvy traveller will spend time inland too, cooling off in the dense tropical jungles while exploring magnificent temples and charming villages with outstanding art and culture. Ubud is at the heart of this culture, and is a must-visit.
Bali’s had a few problems recently, but the Balinese spirit endures; a lot of work has gone into restoring safety and security for all visitors, and holidaymakers are returning in droves. Now life goes on at a leisurely pace though you’re likely to be hounded by hawkers of everything from t-shirts, pirated DVDs, hair plaits, massages and a dozen other souvenirs of your break. Some good natured haggling should have a good result for both parties.

Korean Airlines to Europe Stopover Experience

I recently travelled to Europe with my family (husband and 4 year old daughter) on Korean Airlines. Korean Airlines include a complimentary stopover in Seoul on flights that do not directly connect through to their destination, and I was most interested to experience this service for myself, along with my first flight on Korean Airlines.
We selected Korean Airlines largely based on price, their safety record and the fact that they do include the free night on the outbound flight from Brisbane to Paris. We have family in Belgium and travel every second year to visit. We like to stop in each direction for a night or so to break the journey – it makes it more of a holiday than a hardship to get there, and with a young child, for me, it’s pretty much essential for my sanity.
I was really happy with the Korean Airlines flight itself. The staff were extremely kind and accommodating. The meal choices were Korean or Asian style, and all delicious. The seating was comfortable and about... view full story
