Fiji Holidays

A holiday in Fiji is a sun-filled break in one of the world’s most popular and friendly destinations. One of the world's more exotic destinations, Fiji is a tropical paradise in the South Pacific, made up of 322 islands 3,200km off our east coast. Right up there with Hawaii and Tahiti, Fiji offers a tropical resort holiday without the longer travel time and at considerably less cost.

The first word you’ll hear in Fiji is “Bula” that friendly Fijian greeting delivered with a broad smile and a garland of tropical flowers. Whether you’re a family, couple or single, there’s a warm tropical island holiday waiting to fulfil your every desire. And it should go unsaid, but Fiji is perfect for a romantic honeymoon.

It’s a toss-up between sunning on one of the outer islands or staying on the main island, Viti Levu, for its larger resorts. There’s a lot to be said for both options; generally you’ll find more exclusivity and opulence on the outer islands, while the mainland resorts offer a wider range of activity options at a more accessible price range.

If it’s lodgings with private plunge pools, oversize day beds and delectable local cuisine you’re after, probably consider the outer islands, but if you want a full-on holiday with action aplenty and shopping opportunities, or maybe kids clubs, you’ll get much more satisfaction from the resorts near Nadi, on the Coral Coast or Pacific Harbour.

Whatever you choose you can be sure you’ll have ample opportunity to explore Fijian customs and culture, including a traditional kava ceremony and lovo, a beach barbecue where your feast is cooked in the sand. Go easy on the kava, especially if you’re honeymooning.

In Fiji you can be active all day long, or simply dip into a favourite book and an exotic cocktail poolside. Active choices will include surfing, white water rafting, deep-sea fishing, snorkelling, sailing and swimming. Many resorts have access to championship golf courses and you can simply get off the beaten track and explore the many villages inland.

Ever skied New Zealand? I have and it is spectacular. New Zealand has this freshness about it, superb scenery, amazing beautiful mountains rising out of the icy blue lakes and green valleys. All topped off, with the lush rainforest and snowy peaks all around you. SNOWY WINTER'S DAY Nothing feels better on a beautiful New Zealand snowy winter’s day, than to walk out for your first time in your ski boots, rugged up in all your ski gear to take your first breath of the fresh cold air. Better still if you haven’t felt the snow underneath your feet or the glare from the light hitting the snow before, it truly is a great experience. Whether you are first timers or experienced skiers/snow boarders starting a new season, it is something you want to add onto your to-do list for this winter – that is ski NZ! SOUTH ISLAND'S VARIETY Talked about Queenstown, the ski hub for New Zealand, is truly a fantastic destination. With four ski mountains, The Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Cardrona and... view full story
