that is wonderfully Asian with the reassurance of an English-speaking community.

Sunny Santa Monica - Los Angeles

Travel Counsellor: Diana Vawdrey
As the first stop on our Family Holiday in June/July 08, Santa Monica was a great place to rest after our long journey from Melbourne.
We stayed 2 nights at the Doubletree Guest Suites here, a casual 20 minute stroll from Santa Monica Pier and all the action. They provided a one bedroom suite so had plenty of room for the 4 of us, and an amazing buffet breakfast that filled us well and truly until lunchtime.
Spent most of our time at the Pier area. There is a very small amusement park (lots of movie scenes from here)with a Ferris Wheel that provides a great view over Santa Monica Beach. We hired bikes one day (a tandem for Paul and Jemma) and rode the 20 minutes or so down to Venice Beach, lots of bohemian shops and little fast food outlets (what is a Funnel Cake??) A beautiful wide white sandy beach and lots of people living the LA lifestyle...
Santa Monica itself has a great shopping mall where you can find all the usual boutiques (Gap, Victoria Secret, Abercrombie & Fitch)... view full story
