Ever skied New Zealand? I have and it is spectacular. New Zealand has this freshness about it, superb scenery, amazing beautiful mountains rising out of the icy blue lakes and green valleys. All topped off, with the lush rainforest and snowy peaks all around you.

SNOWY WINTER'S DAY
Nothing feels better on a beautiful New Zealand snowy winter’s day, than to walk out for your first time in your ski boots, rugged up in all your ski gear to take your first breath of the fresh cold air. Better still if you haven’t felt the snow underneath your feet or the glare from the light hitting the snow before, it truly is a great experience. Whether you are first timers or experienced skiers/snow boarders starting a new season, it is something you want to add onto your to-do list for this winter – that is ski NZ!

SOUTH ISLAND'S VARIETY
Talked about Queenstown, the ski hub for New Zealand, is truly a fantastic destination. With four ski mountains, The Remarkables, Coronet Peak, Cardrona and Treble Cone - all offering various tracks at different levels all with amazing views. It is the destination if you are looking for the sun filled powder days on the slopes and plenty of activities to keep you busy during the day or night. Further up the South Island close to the township of Methven is Mt Hutt. With its spectacular vista of the Canterbury Plains it's nestled inside the Southern Alps. It receives some of the lightest and driest powder in Australasia. With one of the longest ski seasons in the Southern Hemisphere you can enjoy the fields from early June to late October.

UNIQUE SNOW PARK
Mt Ruapehu is home to the North Island’s only two commercial ski areas, and is located in the World Heritage Tongariro National Park. Whakapapa and Turoa Snow Park on Mt Ruapehu. These are the first specialised freestyle resorts in the Southern Hemisphere. The ski field is unique as you can either ski or board down the side of an active volcano and experience natural half pipes created by lava flows. The mountain also boasts the highest lift access and the longest vertical drop in Australasia. The skiing and boarding in New Zealand is complemented by the night ski culture regardless of which mountain you wish to visit. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and entertainment to enjoy when the ski fields are closed. Ohakune, a typical small NZ town at the base of Turoa ski field hosts a Mountain Mardi Gras around July/August each year. It is an awesome night with 100% New Zealand music and entertainment that goes past midnight for over 6 hours. It is where everyone dresses-up or down and all come along for a massive night of fun. A ski holiday you will never forget.

Have I caught your attention now? Is New Zealand your next ski/boarding destination on your list? Why not check out what New Zealand has to offer and give me a call. I have been there and done it and can't wait to ski NZ again.
