I would like to share a fantastic holiday experience I had not too long ago with my husband and our two small children to SOUTH AFRICA.

We were very fortunate to stay with a family friend staying on their sugar cane farm in Zulu Natal just outside Pietermaritzburg. This was a fabulous experience as it was the time of year to burn the sugarcane. We were driven off through the cane as it burned WOW what a site.

My husband was off doing the Comrades ultra Marathon so as soon as this was over we took a Safari at TALA game park for the day. That was an experience not to be missed! seeing the Rhino’s and giraffes just strolling along side you was breathtaking.
Off on a 3 hour drive to stay in the Drakensberg Valley where we stayed at the Cavern Resort for 3 nights. This is a beautiful setting surrounded by the rolling hill side and natural springs. Fantastic place to stay for a family with lots to do such as pony trekking, canoeing, hiking ranging from small guided walks that we did with a 3 and a 6 year old, to a hike you could do all day. It really did cater for everything you could ask for in a retreat. Fantastic food and hospitality for a true South African feel.

From here our travels went to Cape Town. We couldn’t go to South Africa without seeing the famous land mark, Table Mountain. We headed up the mountain on the cable car and explored the top of the mountain. We couldn’t believe we were standing on top of this magnificent mountain; we all had to pinch ourselves.
We rented a lovely villa in Camps Bay, just around the bay from Cape Town and explored all the areas such as Cape of Good Hope one of the most southerly tips of Africa. This truly is a country not to be missed.

We all thoroughly had the best time whilst we were there, the people are so beautiful and I would certainly make it a place to visit once again, especially now V Australia are doing direct flights from Melbourne even more appealing.
