Fiji Holiday and Golf
Thursday 19th August 2010

In August this year, my wife and I travelled to Fiji for a short break and to explore the recently opened InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Natadola Bay on the Coral Coast. Being a keen golfer, I was interested to see from their website that the course was designed by Vijay Singh.
The best package I found was a Lagoon King room with all meals. This offered a buffet breakfast, lunch in a poolside restaurant and a buffet dinner each night - not good if you want to stay slim.
We flew from Brisbane with Virgin as they had the most convenient departure times both from Brisbane and from Nandi for our return. On arrival and after clearing customs, we were met by the InterContinental representative, who transferred us to the resort in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus and provided an interesting guided tour along the way. It was an easy, efficient and enjoyable transfer.
On arrival at the resort we were welcomed at the impressive reception area with a refreshing fruit drink while a staff member checked us in. We didn’t have to leave our seat. We were then taken by electric buggy to our room. “Wow” is the only word to describe our reaction on seeing what was to be our home for the next six days. The room was spacious, tastefully furnished, and had a private patio with doors that opened onto the lawn and garden leading to the lagoon. It was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. It was also only a short stroll to the white sandy beach.
Other features of this magnificent resort were a very large children’s swimming pool, a horizon pool “just for the adults,” a fabulous fine dining restaurant, a great spa for body and beauty treatments, a selection of bars and outside seating and relaxation areas and hotel staff who were caring, friendly and efficient.
It would be easy to go on at length about this resort and the time we spent there, but, in summary, it was a fantastic place to holiday – an excellent property in a very beautiful location. We are going back next year.
