“Paris is always a good idea” quote from the movie Sabrina.

Well this is exactly how I feel, Paris is beautiful and it is always a good idea to go there. It is the city of lights, it is the city of love, even if you travel alone you can feel the romance of Paris and enjoy it.

This great city is so easy to get around and the French people are no less friendly than any other race are to tourists visiting their country. I remember a long time ago, before my first trip to Paris, I felt intimidated by the prospect of visiting this city. I had heard so many negative comments. How silly of me to have listened, now I know better than to listen to negative comments about any city. We have to see for ourselves, you have to see Paris for yourself and then make up your mind. So if you do feel like a visit and it is your first time, here are some tips.

Paris is the most walkable city, yes a large city, but other than Montmatre, it is fairly flat. Experience the Metro by all means, it is cheap and takes you places, however, this means walking underground in tunnels that never end, so why not walk to your destination above ground and enjoy walking like a Parisienne.

Personally I like to stay in the 6th Arrondissment, St Germain de Pres on the left bank. Here you will find all levels of accommodation. I know some pretty well priced hotels, from 2 to 5 stars. This area is lovely and truly depicts the inner city, elegant French way of life. Many cafes, bistros, boutiques, art galleries, nice apartment buildings, small boutique hotels, boulangeries etc.

Paris is not cheap, although ideally one visits Paris without a budget (in a perfect world), but if you, like most of us, travel on a budget it can still be an enjoyable experience.

I recommend the L’Open Tour, the double decker open top tour bus. This city’s open top bus is the best I have seen anywhere, it runs so efficiently, and regularly, the different routes cover the entire city.

As a person who has been to Paris several times I can honestly say that this is a beautiful city no matter what season you go in. I personally suggest that you travel outside of the summer period to avoid the crowds and the heat. Winter can be very cold, so the best time in my opinion is March through to May and September through to November. It is a great city even on a rainy day.
